Esplanade also known as Theatre by the Bay is one of Singapore’s performing arts centre. But, esplanade is not only a performing arts centre, there is also a shopping mall called the Esplanade Mall that consists of shops, eateries and even a public library. One of the shops that have been all time favourites is the POPCORNPOP Movie Memorabilia Specialist. It is a shop that portrays its own uniqueness displaying movie posters, postcards, calendar cards, magnet, and flyers from all over the world. Most items are sourced from Hollywood movies, Japan, Hong kong, Taiwan and many more. It is a great source for you to get presents for your friends or for your own collection. After a long day of shopping, why not make your way down to the Aria bistro located at level 1 of the Esplanade Mall and enjoy delicate Mediterranean dishes with a European influence, or have a cup of hot chocolate, the ultimate in decadence at Max Brenner Chocolate Bar? The library@esplanade offers people with visual and aural materials. Unlike other public libraries, this library is fully devoted to the arts, with a wide array of videos on music, literature, dance, movies, theatre and films. Drop by to visit Esplanade, a 10 minutes walk from City Hall MRT station (mass rapid train) through the underpass which is also linked to Suntec City, Millenia Walk, Marina Square and Raffles City. Or you would like to cruise down Singapore River in a River taxi and enjoy the view of Singapore River. Esplanade stands out from the crowd of tall sky scrapers because of its "spiky" domes. The building is affectionately known as the "DURIANS", a spiky and pungent fruit which is also known as the "KING OF FRUITS" by the locals.
